Gisele Origin Story

Jonna and Gisele first met in 2004, when Gisele starred in a sketch Jonna had written for ACME Comedy Theater. It was a sketch about a goofy German woman working in a grocery store (inspired by another sketch about German tourists by friends Ed Marques and Leslie Dixon), and Gisele was the perfect character for the role. At that time people said Jonna and Gisele looked a lot alike and wondered if they were the same person. Seems a close call, but in truth Gisele is much nicer than Jonna. It’s almost as if she’s Jonna Unfettered.

After the sketch show Gisele wanted to keep being, so she started doing storytelling, silly videos, and podcasting. Happily, people seemed to like her kooky optimism, and she liked people. So it was a good fit.

Since then Jonna and Gisele have managed to coexist. Gisele is the one with the German accent.
